In der Falte liegt ein wesentliches Potential für den Raum. Aus einem kompakt zusammengelegten Objekt entsteht bei dem Prozeß des Auseinanderfaltens ein in den Raum greifender Körper. Dieser umschließt Raum, trennt ihn in innen und außen in davor und dahinter.

Wir falten unsere Stoffe, aus großem Tuch wird ein kleines kompaktes Bündel. Ecke auf Ecke, Kante auf Kante gelegt, verkleinern wir die Form zu einem flachen geschlossenen Volumen, welches platzsparendes Ordnen ermöglicht. Bei einem Zelt ist die Wandelbarkeit der Falte oberstes Prinzip und wurde immer wieder optimiert. Das Zelt bietet Schutz vor Wind, Sonne und Regen. Innen und Außen sind nur durch eine dünne Membran voneinander getrennt. Die Zeltwand verwehrt zwar den Blick, doch Geräusche dringen herein. Zuzuordnen sind diese nicht immer. Eingeschlossen und ausgeliefert ist die eigene Verletzbarkeit fühlbar.

Ein Zelt bedeutet ankommen und weiterziehen. Durch den Wechsel des Standpunktes, wird das Neue und das Vertraute gleichermaßen mit Abstand betrachtet. Durch das Heraustreten aus dem Gewohnten wird der Blick neutralisiert. Somit sammelt man Erfahrungen in zwei Richtungen, das neue Fremde und das entfremdete Vertraute.

In the fold lies an essential potential for the space. During the process of unfolding, a compactly folded object becomes a body reaching into space. The body encloses the space and separates it into inside and outside, in front of and behind it.
We fold our fabrics; a large cloth becomes a small compact bundle. Corner to corner, edge to edge, we reduce the form to a flat closed volume, which allows space-saving arrangement. In a tent, the changeability of the fold is the top priority and has been optimized time and time again. The tent offers protection from wind, sun, and rain. Inside and outside are only separated by a thin membrane. The tent wall blocks the view, but noise penetrates. These are not always to be assigned. The tent walls block the view, yet external sounds penetrate the fabric, and should not necessarily be muted. One is enclosed and protected, yet remains at the mercy of one’s own sense of vulnerability.
A tent implies the act of arriving and moving on. By changing one's point of view, the new and the familiar are viewed from a distance. By stepping out of the familiar, the gaze is neutralized. Thus one collects experiences in two directions: the new unfamiliar and the alienated familiar.
