Ein begrenzter, aber intensiver Lichtstrahl in einem ansonsten halbdunklen mit Staub angereichertem Raum, lässt das Licht als Kegel sichtbar werden.
Das gleiche ist zu beobachten, wenn die Sonne durch eine Wolkenlücke scheint, hier ist es der Dunst - kleine Wasserpartikel, der das Licht reflektiert und den Strahl als Lichtkegel sichtbar werden lässt.

Die Transparenz der Stoffe nimmt mit der Anzahl der Überlagerung der Schichten ab, gleichzeitig nimmt die Farbintensität und das Leuchten des Stoffes zu. Das Modell trügt, statt die Zielfläche besonders erstrahlen zu lassen, wird das Innere des stofflichen Lichtkegels zunehmend isoliert. Die Metaphorik des im Licht Stehens dreht sich um, anstelle im Glanz zu erstrahlen, weithin sichtbar zu sein und alles Umliegende im Dunkeln zu belassen, erstrahlt nurmehr Stoff und zäunt mit seinem Glanz das Innere ein.

A confined yet intense beam of light in an otherwise dim, dust-filled room becomes visible as a cone. The same effect can be observed when sunlight breaks through a gap in the clouds—here, fine mist or tiny water particles reflect the light, making the beam visible as a cone.
As the layers of fabric overlap, their transparency decreases while the color intensity and luminosity increase. The model is deceptive: instead of making the target surface shine more brightly, the inner space of the fabric light cone becomes increasingly isolated. The metaphor of „standing in the light“ is reversed—rather than shining in glory, being widely visible, and casting everything else into darkness, only the fabric itself glows, enclosing its interior with its radiance.
